“Plovdiv Typeface” started as a public project on May 24th in the town of Plovdiv, Bulgaria looking to collect and analyze handwriting of local citizens and then transform it in unique typeface, which will remain as part of the city’s cultural heritage long after it’s no longer European Capital of Culture 2019.
More than 3000 people joined the project and filled in a pangram in Bulgarian with their unique handwriting.
Our team, bringing together two graphic studios, PUNKT and Typedepot, will process and analyze the collected handwriting using the most common and interesting forms of the letters written to build a font family.
The project, along with the unique typeface will be finalized on 1st November 2019 – National Revival Day and will be donated for free.
